SUMMER UNIFORM – Grades K-8

Students may wear uniform navy blue walking shorts with a dark leather belt and a white SMES polo shirt. Girls in grades 6 – 8 must wear the uniform skort with an oxford style blouse or the SMES polo shirt and navy blue or white crew or knee socks.

• All students are to wear low leather solid colored brown, black or navy rubber soled school shoes (ex: loafers, bucks or Docksiders) or black and white saddle shoes.
  
• All shoes must be closed to the toe and heel
  
• Vans, Wallabees, Uggs and Etnies are not acceptable
  
• Athletic shoes are worn on PE days only and are to be white, brown or neutral colored.
  
• Slides, mules, clogs, platforms, heels, hiking shoes, boots of any kind, shoes with wheels, sandals, flip flops or high top tennis shoes may not be worn.
  
• No heel should exceed 1”
  
• Shoes must be laced and tied

• Students are expected to dress neatly and modestly at all times.
  
• Complete uniforms with shirts neatly tucked in and buttoned are to be worn everyday. Pants/shorts are to be worn at the waist (not the hips) with a belt.
  
• Crew socks must be clearly visible.
  
• Skorts, jumpers and walking shorts are to be worn no shorter than 2” above the knee.
  
• SMES logos are required on all polo shirts, sweatpants and sweatshirts. No other logos are permitted on uniform apparel.
  
• Colored and/or decorated T-shirts are not allowed under shirts.
  
• SMES V-Neck cardigan or V-Neck pullover sweaters are optional.
  
• Girls may wear one pair of post earrings only. Boys may not wear earrings.
  
• Hats, caps, scarves, etc. may not be worn inside any building.
  
• No jewelry, make-up or nail polish is to be worn.
  
• Fad hairstyles and hair coloring are not permitted. Boys’ haircuts must be above the eyes, ears and collar.
  
• Sleeves on oxford shirts may not be rolled.

• No tank tops, tube tops, bare midriffs, etc.
  
• No cutoffs, baggy pants, or clothing with rips/holes.
  
• Shorts can only be worn to school during September, October, May and June.
  
• Requirements for shoes, socks, jewelry and make-up are the same as the uniform policy.
  
• No student may be out of uniform on a day when there is a liturgy, prayer service or field trip.
