Tuition Assistance Funds
St. Mary’s Parish Tuition Assistance Fund
Financial aid is available for registered parishioners. Financial aid is awarded based on demonstrated need.
St. Mary’s out-of-parish students may also apply to their home parish for tuition assistance. Availability varies by parish.

The Knott Scholarships for Grades 4 and 8
The Knott Scholarships are four-year, full tuition scholarships to Catholic parish elementary or high schools for Catholic students who excel in academics.

The Theresa F. Truschel Charitable Foundation, Inc.
Established in 2007 to provide scholarships to students attending Catholic schools at all levels, as well as to provide grants to Catholic institutions and organizations which are helping those in need who require temporary financial assistance to support themselves and their families.
Applications for this award are accepted during the month of April and awarded in the month of June.

Scholarships for 8th Graders Applying for High School...
The McGeady Family Scholarship
The McGeady Family Scholarship, an endowed fund, awards one St. Mary’s elementary student a four-year, $1,000 annual scholarship to St. Mary's High School. The recipient is selected by the donors or their designated representative from three finalists selected by the elementary school principal and his/her appointed representatives. Decision will be based on the students overall scholastic excellence, including test scores, grades, classroom effort and conduct, demonstrated service to the parish/community, and exemplary character. Applicants must maintain a 3.5 average during their matriculation at St. Mary’s High School.
Richard D. Crabtree Spirituality Scholarship Award
The Richard D. Crabtree Spirituality Scholarship Award is a one time $1,000 scholarship for a St. Mary’s Elementary School student who is going on to St. Mary’s High School. A permanent part of the St. Mary’s School endowment, this award honors the memory of Richard D. Crabtree, a parishioner and friend of St. Mary’s School. Mr. Crabtree believed that the greatest value of Catholic education was to grow in the knowledge and practice of faith and service to others. His family has chosen to honor his legacy by recognizing a student who strives to exemplify in his or her daily life the qualities of a St. Mary’s Saint: courage, responsibility, integrity, perseverance, compassion, respect and self-respect.
The Father Max Pauli C.Ss.R Creative Writing Award
The Father Max Pauli C.Ss.R Creative Writing Award is a one time $1,000 scholarship award for a St. Mary’s Elementary Student who is going on to St. Mary’s High School. The award is determined by the eighth grade teachers based on the student’s overall excellence in creative writing, including grades, classroom effort and conduct, and exemplary character. A permanent part of the St. Mary’s School endowment, this award honors the years of service of Fr. Max Pauli, a Redemptorist priest and published author who served as prefect of both St. Mary’s Elementary School and High School until his death in 1990.
The School Sisters of Notre Dame Mathematics Scholarship Award
The School Sisters of Notre Dame Mathematics Scholarship Award is a one time $1,000 scholarship award for a female St. Mary’s Elementary Student who is going on to St. Mary’s High School. The award is determined by the eighth grade teachers based on the student’s overall excellence in mathematics, including test scores, grades, classroom effort and conduct, and exemplary character. A permanent part of the St. Mary’s School endowment, this award honors the great contribution and legacy of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, whose charism and teaching tradition has graced St. Mary’s School for almost 140 years.
Gary Lee Ryon, Jr. Memorial Founation, Inc
The Gary Lee Ryon, Jr. Memorial Foundation Inc. has been established to celebrate the short life of Gary Lee Ryon, Jr. There mission is to help other children fin the paths that lead to happiness, fulfillment, and joy of life.

The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Programs
The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columus is the sponsor of two High School scholarships for its members and for Catholic students in general. Below is a brief summary of these scholarships and information regarding eleigibility for these awards.
Application period is from November 1, 2009 to March 1, 2010. All spplications must be received in their entirety no later than March 1, 2010. for scholarship information or applications go to Knights of Columbus website or write to:

The Frederick M. Gossman Memorial High School Scholarship
Designed to assist members of the Knights of Columbus holding membership in councils within the jurisdiction of Maryland in paying tuition for their sons and daughters at accredited Catholic High Schools. Two grants of $1,000 per year for up to four years are awarded. One additional grant of $1,000 per year for up to four years funded by the maryland Knights of Columbus Insurance Advisors will also be awarded. Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need. Continued support after the first year is contingent on continued academic success. The children of deceased members are also eleigible, provided the member was in good standing at the time of death. Funds are applicable to tuition only.
The William J. O'Brien Jr., Memorial Catholic High School Scholarship
One grant of $1,000 per year for up to four years will be awarded. Eligibility for a grant under this program is open to Catholic students who are residents of the State of Maryland. Affiliation with the Knights of Columbus is not required. However, children and grandchildren of a member of a Knights of Columbus council within the jurisdiction of Maryland are also eligible. Applicants must have been officially accepted at or must be students at accredited Catholic High Schools. Applications will be judged on academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need. Continued support after the first year is contingent on continued academic sussess. Funds are applicable to tuition only.

Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarships
The Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund recognizes the significant sacrifices made by teachers and administrators who have accepted God’s call to the ministry of Catholic education. Students who are dependents of a teacher or administrator with 3 or more years in Catholic elementary or high schools are eligible to apply.
